Default Can you lower the forks?

I'm converting from clip ons to riser/db bars. I was wondering.. once the clipons are actually removed the forks will be sticking out of the triple about 2 inches. Am I pretty much forced to run a 2' riser for the bars or can the forks slide down and if so howww much will it change the front suspension. I just need some info before I order the risers.

It'll change the geometry of the bike some. I'm guessing it would adversely affect handling but if you're doing those kinds of mods, handling probably isn't all that critical.

Seems like if they are sticking out that much, it's been lowered that much to begin with, dropping the forks back down till the groove in the top is even with the triple clamp should put it back to stock height.

The fork tubes actually stick out the top of the triple qiute a bit stock, gives room to clamp the clip ons.
I did this exact mod, used tall risers, renthal bars, 3 custom cables from motion pro, longer ss brake lines.
Make sure when you drill the triple clamp you put some large washers on the underside of the triple so the bolts don't pull through.
The riding position is way better.

Like I said before, its going to change how the bike handles. The only real way to find out is to try out what works, and if it doesn't work for you then put it back or sell it.

The bike will turn in much slower, and feel about 300lb's heavier in the corners.

It will be more stable at high speeds, but your cornering will suffer quite a bit.

Get the risers and if anything, raise the forks slightly for a more nimble feeling bike.

Well you originally had a guess. And I do not understand why I would sell it. I was just thinking.. the first two inches of suspension travel.. at least on my f2 can be achieved with a small amount of force. But like you said.. the only way to actually find out is to try.
