Wink Apologies it's a tyre thread

Ok Mavis the latest addition to my family (see my intro thread, linky in sig) will shortly need some new rubber.

Now I know tyre threads are always very subjective but my main question is, has anyone here used Avon Storm Ultra 2s on their CBR F2 (listed on Avons website as suitable) and if so how did you find them?

Why the Storms you may ask. Well I've put over 50,000 miles on them over the last 3 years on my main bike (ST1100) and have been more than happy with the combination of grip (especially in the wet), wear (5-6k rear, 9-11k front) and price on what is a significantly (around 1 Hulk Hogan) heavier bike (& yes I do get down to the lettering on the sides).

Let the discussion begin and feel free to wade in with personal opinions about what you consider the best tyre to use for general road use

The Continental Motion's have been really good tires for me, price vs. performance but they don't seem to be as redily available here as there are on your side of the pond.

Next set will likely be a little more performance oriented, Michelin Pilot 2's or Dunlop Q2's

I have a set of Michelin Pilot Road 2s on my F2 and have gotten about 12k out of them. The tread is now almost gone and I am not going to hesitate to get a set of the Road 3s. I don't race, as the bike is mainly a commuter but I've never had a problem getting the bike to do what I want it to.

My girlfriend currently has shink 005's on her bike. They work fine.

I ran Michelin pilot powers and loved them, and also ran Bridgestone BT016's and hated them.

The Pilot power 2ct (two compound) worked great on my GSXR 750, and I rode the ***** off of them at the track. They didn't compare to the race DOT tires I am running now, but they were good enough to drag knee at 100mph and barrell on out of the turn.

I had some storm 2's on my vfr when i owned it and loved them. A great wet/dry tire and price was pretty goodtoo. I am installing shinko 009 ravens on my 1000f this friday they got really good reviews on motorcycle superstore. But the avon storms are really nice and sticky as well.( when the tire was hot could barely do a burnout in the rain with them )

Thanks for the inputs , I'm still swinging towards the Storms

Just took a look at what's on her. Pair of Michelin Pilots, vintage week 20 2004 on the front and week 11 2002 on the rear ;o)
