Any ideas for a replacement petcock other than a new Honda one @ $185??
I've taken the stock one apart and tightened it up as much as possible, the the seals are just shot. Anybody got any ideas for a replacement other than a new one from Honda? Any such thing as an aftermarket replacement, even a universal one? My bike fuel fouls a plug every few days, and that really bugs me, I know it's not good for the motor to have that much fuel sitting in a cylinder.
i know its a pain, but heres what i did. i installed a small inline shutoff valve between the stock petcock and the carbs. i reach in through the hole in the fairing where the idle adjuster is at to turn it on and off. its a pain, but better than pulling plugs all the time!!!
Mine doesn't have that, (the vacuum part, I thinkthe whole thingmay have been replaced by a unit from an F3 at some point in time),and Honda says there are no seals or rebuild kit available, only a complete unit. If I could buy the rubber part, I'm sure I could fix it....
try going to WWW.BIKEBANDIT.COM you can buy replacement parts for the petcock assembly there.... the dealerships didn't get the name Stealership for nothing ya know..lol
I've been there, and all they show is complete assemblies. The petcock that's on mine now has a steel plate riveted over a rubber "gasket", and the "gasket" has raised edges thatseal to the steel ball that's controlled by the valve handle. I'm pretty sure nobody will make that as a service part, in fact, I'm pretty sure you're not supposed to be able to take the petcock apart, but I did. I drilled right through the swaged metal tips that hold the whole thing together and tapped it for some small machine screws.
Now that's what I'm talking about, thanks. Quite a range of prices out there for the same part, anybody seen them on eBay?

Or buy new seals...
