Another Harley?
Just got done talking to a friend of mine who has a newer harley. Its a nice looking bike, has done some work to it. I cant remember what model but its like a 1483cc???? Has put pipes and some motor work to it and I am sure its a pretty quick bike. Well he got to messing with me about my girly purple bike and I simply told him we will just see if he can keep up with the girly bike! Well he laughed ans said I smoke you! What is this guy smoking! There is no way! He might keep up but there is no way he gonna beat me! My dad has a 95 HD lowrider with some mild work, his a a 14somethingcc bike and he can ride better than any man I have witnessed and he cant touch me in a straighline on my F2! Why do HD guys always think there bikes are the baddest thing on the rode! I just cant wait to catch up with him on the road!
one of my good friends has a 05 harley vrod and its supposed to be the fastest production harley available...i have a 06 1k rr and he told me that his vrod would keep up with it, so, after i got done laughing we went for a ride and lets just say when i hit 90, he was nowhere to be found
They have always thought that way. The think because it says HARLEY it has some mystical power booster rocket system in it or some ****. Even their biggest Buel sportbikes can't stand next to a bone stock 600. I don't hate Harley's I just hate the mentality of the people that ride them for the most part. Buying a Harley is like strapping on a bigger *******.
I dont hate harleys either, I grew up around them and respect them for what they are, and what they arent! Its just funny how some people like you said think they have mystical powers
I went through the same thing when I first got my bike with another friend who bought a 1200 sportster the same time I got my f2, his bike had some motor work done, pipes and a few other things and granted it ran good but he got shut up one day while we were riding! Took off from a rolling stop and when I hit 110 and looked in my mirror he was still at the intersection lol!

I personally wouldn't own a harley. I would own a bike custom built by a fabricatorusing a Harley engine. I'm a fan of the Biker Build-Off series and it really helped showcase the talents of many builders.(a lot more than that stupid OCC show) That said, those bikes are cruisers. They may be fast, but they can't keep up with the inlines, for the most part.
When you buy a Harley, your not buying a bike, but your buying yourself into a subculture, an attitude. Something that Harley-Davidson promoted heavily.
- 98% of all Harleys ever sold are still on the road. The other 2% made it home.

When i decided to get back into motorcycling after about 10 years of being in cagers my wife wouldn't let me get a sport bike. I instead bought an 06 xl 1200c harley (1200 sporty custom). After 16000 miles i had to have a new carburator and blew a rear head gasket. My brother bought an 06 vrsc ( V Rod) He now has 12000 miles and had a rocker box cover leak oil, Steering head is squeeking bad, 2nd Fan sounds like a bearing is going out. I paid 12k out the door and he paid about 22k out the door. I recently sold him the 954 i bought as a trade in for that harley junk 6 months ago, and myself just bought an 06 1000rr last friday. I can tell you from experience as an ex and never again harley owner that your 600 can smoke them. My sportster only did about 45 in first and about 120 in fifth. It ran about mid 13s on a quarter and his v rod pulls mid 11s. After riding sport bikes his v rod feels wimpier than my crf 450.
I like Harley's but I would never own one. My friend has a 2001 Lowrider with some minor mods and we've raced he's about (just a rough estimate) 1,643 bike lengths behind when i hit 140 on my '03 600RR.
