Default Air Filter?

So im new to this bike. I got it for next to nothing and it was sorta maintained. Anyways i have changed the oil and getting ready to do the brake fluid and coolant tonight. Well i took the fairings off to see what i was working with and So far im missing one fan the right one and some stuff is zip tied. I will go buy the bolts and new fan but what caught my eye the most was the torn t-shirt zip tied around two holes just below the tank. Any ideas? I will get pictures up later tonight if no one has a solid answer. Thanks

I already ordered a new air filter. Thanks anyways. I do see that your selling a radiator to someone else thoug. Do you happen to have the brake side fan for our bike?

sounds like somebody ripped the large rubber 90 degree tubes off of the airbox and zip tied a shirt around the holes so the air filter wouldnt get as dirty.. I could be way wrong but from what you describe thats how it sounds.. are the holes in front of the airbox?

God bless the Internet. **** like this makes my day.

Anyway, they're called a "snorkels." Sometimes you'll see it called "Ram Air Duct" even though it is nothing like a Ram Air system, whatsoever. People will also confuse it for the DAI system on the F3's. Here's one on eBay:

Damn, i thought my bike was jerry-rigged. That torn t-shirt prolly gave that baby +2 HP. The Zip ties help the aero-dynamics too ;P Downward force and such.
