I just bought a 91 CBR 600.

See my last post.

this would probably be a shift fork, which even used isnt cheap because you've got to remove the entire motor and split cases to get to it and change it. going to a shop, you're going to be spending a small fortune to do this. If you're able to swing wrenches yourself, and know how to do it, you'll be able to fix it much cheaper.

can you see the shift forks by removing the stator cover?

He specifically said a pin. But I honestly don't know.

I'll have to get some pictures up and see if you guys spot anything out of the ordinary.

You are all wrong, you do not need to split the case to see the shift forks. Here is what you need to do. Romove the exhouast, drain oil, remove oil pan, remove clutch cover, remove clutch. Thats it. your shift forks are right there along with the shift drum. You might need to stick your head under the motor to see them but thats were they are. If it is the forks i have my motor in pieces and my forks are in good shape. Let me know

I'll keep trying to narrow down what it really is.

I think he was referring to the 5mm pin that aligns all the primary gears? That's the only thing that makes sense to me that it could be.

Ok.

Forget about what I mentioned about the shift pin.

I finally got a chance to pull the case cover and saw that one of the arms is broken on my pressure plate.

So I attempted to take the center nut off, but just ended up breaking another arm.

So here is what I have...

What is the best way to remove the center nut?

Thanks in advance.

put the bike in gear and have someone stand on the rear brake or stick a piece of wood through the rear wheel so it sits against the swingarm, then an impact wrench should make short work of it, those things are easy to break, I did it on my Ducati

you do not need to jam the wheel or even put it in gear. Use an impact wrench and do quick short burst until it loosens, you do not want to do any more damage then has already been done. Ohh and befor eyou try to get it off make sure you undo the stake in the nut. If you need any parts, my motor is in pieces and everything is in good shape. LMK
