Default 1996 CBR600 Smokin' Joe's

Hi All,

Can anyone tell me more about the 1996 CBR600 Smokin' Joe special edition bike. It's got under 7,000 miles so it hasn't been riden much and has some carb issues because it was stored without or with old gas for too long. Have a recommendation on the best approach, gumout, rebuild carb, or is this a dealer repair?

Is the model no CBR600SJR sound right.

What's the difference between a CBR600 F1, F2, F3, and F4.

Is the Smokin Joe edition worth any more that a standard edition CBR600?

Thanks,

John0918

I don't know anything about carbs, but i have a 93 F2, and my best friends have a 94 F2 and a 98 smokin' joe F3. The F's are just different generations of the honda CBR, there are minor changes here and there and a well maintained 94' is better than a beat up 96' (etc.) any day. The smokin joe is just a different look. nothing special about it unless its the actual race bike used (which i doubt in your case). good luck with the carbs, repost when you figure it out.

smokin joes is a 600F3SE..your 96 is an f3. They arent worth anymore than a regular f3 unless its in mint condition with 0 miles on it. I would rebuild the carbs yourself. You probably just need to see if the floats move smoothly, and clean the jets with fishing line and carb cleaner. Also make sure the diaphram moves smoothly. I would concentrate on soaking those jets and running the fishing line through them to clean them out, thats the most important.

Yamaha makes great carb cleaner.Does the job well and is o-ring safe too!

After you finish twiddling with the carbs, run some Seafoam through it.Good stuff
