Anybody have any clue as to where spools would mount to the swing arm
Or do I gotta mod it too work.

 

Stock swingarm was never designed for spools. You could have someone weld on some threaded bosses under the arm.

I've just always used a pitbull stand with the flipover ends, so it does spool or regular lift.

 

The paddle stands works but be careful. While working on the bike the bike started moving as the stand worked it way up the swingarm. This was after the rubber wore off and the tape I used wouldnt stay. JNS has pics in his thread of where he drilled his swing arm for lugs/spools. I also drilled mine recently for spools.

Really would like to see pics I'm gonna buy the spools. Not much to bite onto on the rear with my rear venom stand in place.

And they broke off in a crash so he drilled his swingarm and bolted them on.

 

In the "search" at the top of the page type in " 93 F2 Mod Phase 2". It will take a while to go through it since there was 735 replies. But its in there. Trust me. At first you'll come accross the welded on ones then he crashed and tore one off. Keep going and you'll see where he drilled etc. JNS is a guy on this site. He races 600rr now. So he dont fequent the F2 section much.

 

Yeah, 65 pages later. He did drill and nut them on the swingarm.

Just my opinion, that would probably work just fine, but it wouldn't be my choice. That puts a lot of force on the thin wall of the swingarm. I'd still go with a long threaded boss welded under the swingarm with a good weld. In theory that should be stronger.

 

I saw a thread recently on here (sorry but I don't remember who posted it) but the guy came up with a pretty sweet idea of poking a 7/16" threaded rod through the real axle and just securing your spools to that (or drilling into it to tap the right size thread into the rod). It won't help to remove the rear wheel or anything major like that but I liked the idea for regular maintenance and what not. Since the rear axle is hallow, it's basically a no mod solution for minor maintenance on the F2.
