Default Yet another carb rebuild question

Hi all,

I am in the midst of beginning to bring my f1 back to life. Upon a very trustworthy friend I was told to get a rebuild kit for my carbs. (the bike does not run fyi) So off to the local honda dealer I went. After having a conversation with a nice but maybe not as knowledgeable fellow as I was hoping. I came to learn that there is no "kit" available.

I know that some of you guru's out there are laughing right now. But that's ok by me. Infact I'm sure that in the future I'll post yet another noob question that will earn a laugh.

Anyhow from the blown up diagrams that I have seen by the dealer and the ones in the clymers manual that I have, I really don't know where to begin.

Can someone please direct me to the essential things that should be replaced vs the ones that are replaced based on inspection alone? I noticed that some of the items can get a bit on the pricey side when buying for four carbs.

Thanks and sorry for the long post.

CBRClassic just said precisely what I was going to. also, check the diaphragms. if they're ripped/torn, replace.

Thanks guys.

Your help will go a long way. I was reading through the repair manual and putting pictures to terminology is working so far. I'm in the process of generating a list of parts that I'll likely buy.

I was just going to go to a local dealer to buy/order stuff, that is unless someone can reco me an online buisness that can save me a few bucks.?

generally I use cheapcycleparts.com for all my bike stuff. much less expensive.

go to your local harbor freight and buy the baby ultrasonic cleaner. in a week or two, I'm doing that to clean carburetor bits, as I do this professionally. it makes cleaning carbs A MILLION times easier. and assures they're clean, not just half cleared.

Thanks Bob,

I will check them out for sure. I guess a small investment in an ultrasonic cleaner will pay off 10 fold with an older bike.

it will indeed. you can even clean the wife's jewlery for her, gain some points in your favor.

if you're a technician like me, it'll pay off first carb job you do.
