Post Is it worth it?

Theres a '87 CBR 600 F (Hurricane) right down the road from me for sale. The owner said it needs a battery, starter, and a valve job. Cosmetically it is is pretty bad shape ( most fairings are gone except the front, seat has rips in it, looks like it's been sitting outside for years, ect.) but mechanically everything looks to be all there (haven't heard it run though) except it really needs new tires. It has around 34,000 miles, the guy wants $450 for it. I'm thinking it would make a good streetfighter. Is it worth what he is asking? Your opinions are appreciated!

As long as you can hear it run. A lot of guys have picked up running examples for 1K that don't need major jobs done right away.

When he says a vavle job does he mean adjusted or are the valves bad?

Potentially worth it just as parts if you need/want them. I would pick it up because a parts bike is always nice to have.

I think he just meant a adjustment. I don't know if I'll get it or not, it seems like a little too much work to get it up and running right again. I think I'll just wait for a little better bike to come up for sale.

+1 "Valve Job" could mean a lot of things.

Valve adjustment, sure no problem. Free, except for your time.

Hey I live in NC and paid $800 one that runs but looks terrible. I'm just gonna put newer plastics on it. I already have them just havent had time to start on it.

Buy it if it runs.
