I finally had to put her away, lousy Canadain weather!
I was wondering if you guys had any good tips for us noobs? Last year i was lucky enough to have a heated garage to put it into. This year it's my folks shed.

So far i let the bike run with the gas turned off, untill it ran out of gas. Then I checked the coolant. I put some fuel stabilizer in the tank. Removed the battery. Is there anything im missing?
Any hints would be helpfull thx guys

 

top off the fuel tank to reduce the amount of air in there, less open space means less room for condensation to form and cause rust in the tank. next drain the float bowls if you dont really like pulling the carbs in the spring. also put the battery on a trickle charger to keep it from going bad.

 

Ahhh, the float bowls, I forgot about them, I haven't ever drained them.. I'll have to look it up in the manual

 

Sounds like ur on the right track to me keep battery warm and it will be fine far as filling the tank i have never do it but not bad idea

 

you should if you plan to store the bike at all. the idea is to remove all the empty space, so there is no room for condensation to form on the insides of your tank, as I said earlier, thus preventing the tank from rusting.

 

yea, if you dont (like the previous owner of my bike did not) you will end up changing fuel filters and cleaning the fuel petcock screen every 5000km's. Orrrrrr you can drain the tank, get as much loose rust out as you can and coat it with tank liner.....but thats a pain in the ***! so a full tank of fuel and some stabilizer will do wonders.

Turn off your fuel, drain your carbs, oil your chain, stuff rags into your intake holes and your muffler to prevent critters from getting in (not way down just enough to plug them) also would recommend getting a rear swingarm stand to take long periods of weight off sidestand, mine is starting to bend.
