My bike was making some strange metallic noise which I noticed intermittently. I thought it was the cam chain tension needing adjustment, though after looking at my drive chain and realizing it was loose I adjusted it instead. I took the nearly 2 inches of up/down travel back to the service manual's recommended 1 inch and it took care of the strange sounds. I'm pretty sure a loose drive chain was making some noise, but also causing the cam-chain to become loose as well. This simple fix not only made the throttle is more responsive but also made the engine run better.
I'm sharing my experience with a suspected cct problem because adjusting the drive chain was easier than replacing the cct tensioner or chain.
