Default Transmission issue?

Occasionally when riding aggressively my 90 cbr 600 jumps out of 2nd and drops into neutral. I don't notice it everytime I ride so I'm not really sure if its an issue with me (maybe not fully engaging gear) or if I could be losing 2nd and should start thinking of a trams rebuild

is it popping out immediately as you shift? or is when you are in 2nd at WOT and upper rpms is when it goes into neutral?

My buddy's f2 was dropping to neutral under load it turned out to be a bad bearing that second gear rides on the shaft. It was digging into the shift fork forcing it back to neutral

If it happens when shifting into 2nd, which I suspect it does, you should consider installing the pro shift kit from Factory Pro. It will most likely stop the problem from happening before it damages the transmission gears & forks and you have to pull the engine out to fix it. When it jumps out of gear the shift forks & gears take a lot of abuse and will wear out eventually.

I had the same problem with mine popping out of second intermittently when riding hard & shifting near redline. The shift kit has completely eliminated this from happening.

It does happen right after shifting. But not even close to wot. We're talking like 6-7k. Tahoe how hard was the install on the shift kit?

Did you even read the How-to? I'm not sure what Tahoe can tell you that the thread didn't cover.

If its jumping out of gear the shift kit is just a band-aid fix for a transmission problem. We put it in my buddys f2 and it got a little better for a while letting him get it above 4500 before popping out, but even factory pro admits it wont fix a jumping to N issue its to help keep the damage from happening in the first place. My buddy ended up getting a used gear and fork set to fix it. Second gear wobbled back and forth pretty bad when I took it apart

Its not too hard if you have the write tools and you follow the how-to. I could have done it in 2 hours if I knew what I know now.

Depends on how much damage was already done. When I bought my bike it would pop into N when accelerating hard and shifting near redline into 2nd. The shift kit completely eliminated this from happening, and it has never popped out of gear or missed a shift again since installing it. I'm sure some damage was already done to my gears, but I'm not about to tear my engine apart to check since it's been working perfectly for the last few years after installing the kit

Yeah I guess depending on how much damage is done the shift kit will keep anymore from happening. My buddy's f2 was neglected for a while

Here is his shift fork from where second gear was walking into it
