Default Tires !

Going to bring my project (1987 CBR600F) back out of winter mothballs and start picking it up in earnest again. Anyone have recommendations for tires that will work ? Not looking to break the bank.

I just put set of these Kenda KM1s on my 500-lb VFR. From all feedback, they should be good for 10K-miles rather than the 2500-3000 I've been getting

Might even try them out on track. Only getting 2-3 trackdays out of set of Q3+, which lasts +40 days on my Ninja 250 race bike.

thanks @dannoxyz , the price looks great, but I looked them up and I don’t see them available in the sizes for the 87 F1?

I understand it takes Front: 110/80-17Rear: 130/80-17.

I found a post from a few years back by @HansNOR. This post comes from https://cbrforum.com/forum/cbr-600f-...-tires-139327/:
ive ridden a season on avon roadrider mkII 110 in front 130 in the back - its very good in all conditions, and cannot complain about wear. i daily commute and sometimes go ape**** on the weekends.

https://www.avontyres.com/en-us/tyres/roadrider-mkii
That website does list the sizes I think I need. I’m going to call a local Avon distributor to check on prices.

Would love to hear of more options. I will admit I do not understand the discussion about bias vs radial tires…

EDIT: Found this long thread where people discuss different tires and sizes https://cbrforum.com/forum/cbr-600f-...e-sizes-13504/. Great info there, but my head is swimming - so many options and things to consider. Stopped reading at page 14 (LOL) and will continue tomorrow, but I think it's going to be paralysis by analysis for me. That, and since the last post was ~5-y ago, figuring out what is still available.

Ah sorry, original 600F. I was thinking F2 for some reason.

Radial tyres have more supple casing so they spread out at contact patch more for better grip. Also absorbs bumps and surface irregularities better. But radial tyres require wider rims for support. Otherwise, they'll feel floppy and loose.

Best to stick with original size bias-ply tyres on factory rims. Avons are good, I've use these on my commuter Ninja 250. Even taken it on trackdays when my racebike was laid up for service.

I like this outfit, right down street so I can go pick up.

@NuggyBuggyCBR I just put Pirelli Sport Demon on my 88 Hurricane 600. Got the original sizes in bias ply. I've got 350 miles on them. All good so far. I don't ride that bike in the rain, so no input there. Pics are in Hurricane picture thread.
