are these tires good for this bike? 1989 cbr600f hurricane. Is this a good price, or should I keep looking?

In all honesty........no. Unless you are racing it at a track (and obviously you arent or you'de be racing something a little newer to be competative) they wont work for **** on the street. Race tires do one thing........stick like hell when cornering. They dont work well in the rain, dont work well when cold or cool or not heated to track pace heat, and they arent stable for street conditions.....and......they wouldnt last long.

Get some Dunlop GT501's. I had these on my 88 Hurricane and they were awsome. They will stick better than your average rider can ride even at a track and they seem to last pretty well.
Hook up with them.....they'll be great.

Oh one last thing..........thoseyou posted about are radial tires......your bike NEEDS Bias Ply tires. You need a MUCH larger rim to fit a 150 Radial than you can possibly squeeze on your F1.

They are WAY too big for your rim man. You MIGHT squeeze a 150 on but a 140 is more likely. I had a 140 on mine and it was fine, only because 130's are hard to come by anymore. You simply can not put that big of a rim on the back or your bike. Give up on it, it would only be for looks anyway. And IF you could by some act of congress get one to fit on that puny rim, the profile of the tire would be so F'd up it wouldnt work right. You need to go with as close to stock as you can or you'll completely mess up the handling of your bike.
Again, a tire that large is only offered in radials so the answer to your question is NO. Not with out changing the swing arm/rear rim to a modern one. If all you want is a fat tire, buy a newer bike.

Good luck.

Yeah, take it from me, racing tires work for crap on the street. The only reason I have them on right now, is because the tires that came on my bike were dry rotted to hell, and completely unsafe, so a rider buddy of mine that used to race, had a pair of unused race tires and gave them to me because he didn't need them. Cornering is awesome, I have burnt the crap out of the sides of them, but seriously, pea gravel, or any water on the road is horrible!!! not good at all to have on there, I'm getting new tires really soon.

Thanks for all the input. I measured the whole rear end at my shop today and it looks like plenty of room to fit a 160. I don't really care too much what the tire size is, as long as it's 140+ . Truth is, these swing arms are so boxy and simple , it would only take meabout 2 hours to cut it and tig weld it howeverwider to fit a big tire.
I've decided to get a 150 and a 110 DUNLOP seems the best fit all around (my opinion).

But again, this was a free bike (check my other post on this forumfor the story)and my first ever sportbike. I normallywork onold choppers. This bike has been fun though. The guys in my shop call her the 'ol potbelly' ( I guessthe way it looks). In the past 2 weeks I've completely stripped it down, cleaned it inside and out, polished to everything that is aluminum to a chrome like look.I went all through the bike with a fine tooth comb(expression), and thenrebuilt her back up. Got new side fairings and just put the 3rd coat of paint on her today. Going tosand andclear tomorrow. I'm matching a stock paint schemeoff of one of the '90 models, but custom colors(white and burnt orange metallic). When done,I think this bike will be one of the CLEANEST around. And with only 6,000 miles, a lot of life left too! Will have pics up soon. I'll probably ride the bike arond a bit and have some fun til late april, then offer it up for sale. I'll let you guys know first, that way itmay go to someone who would really appreciatethe bike.

I'll have tomake room for my next project: 1969 triumph chopper with a 250 wide rear tire.. LOL

Thanks again though, you guys have all been a lot of help.

room on the swingarm, not much on the rim, and the outer edge of the tire (160, where tread ends and sidewall begins) could be very close to scraping the chain. with a 150, you get about 10-15mm of clearance from the chain depending on tire manufacturer.
