Default steering stem issue!

hi all. I have been trying and trying to remove the stem from the lower yoke to no avail, filed off the weld, no use, cut 3mm off bottom, heated the blasted yoke, smacked it to hell and back for hours, done nothing but mashed up the yoke, so what i wanna know is... are there any stems off other years (or bikes) that are the same dimensions as ours that may be a little easyer to remove or buy seperate? please help guys, projects at a road block!!
