Start-Up Problems (Bike Warm)
Ok so my bike started this new little thing recently. I will ride for a while 5 mins-30 mins turn the bike off for a minute or more. Try to start it back up wont start, let it sit for 30 seconds then fires up like nothing.
Example went to gas station today about 8 miles away, filled it up. When to start it wouldnt start, waited 30 seconds fired up.
Ive tried to get it like 10 seconds after wont work, its weird do i need to put the choke on or what?

RE: Start-Up Problems (Bike Warm)
if you have tried the above, you could go down this list:
1. no fuel to carbs
2. engine flooded with fuel
3. no spark at plug, ignition system faulty
4. clogged air cleaner
5. intake air leak
6. improper choke operation
7. imporper throttle operation
8. faulty fuel pump
9. faulty fuel pump relay
i'm sure right off the bat half the list you can knock off.

you said bike is warm so choke is not necessary.
what happens? does it turn but not fire up? have you tried giving some gas as you try to start?

8 & 9 i think might be a good reason, what exactly does the relay do, if you could further explain its operations.

RE: Start-Up Problems (Bike Warm)
#1 just means that somewhere before the carbs, the fuel is not flowing to them. that could mean tank on/off valve, clogged fuel filter, bad pump, etc.
#8 could mean that your fuel pump is not pumping fuel either because the pump motor has gone bad or cavitated. the pump should feel like it is pumping or disconnect the outlet side, turn the ignition on for 5 secs and see how much fuel is pumping out into a container, multiply by 12 to get per minute flow. spec is 650 cc (22oz)/min.
#9 the purpose of a relay is that it acts as a switch to control current to the pump motor. you can check the relay if you think the pump is okay but still not pumping out the required amount of fuel. between Bl(+) and body ground(-) w/ ignition switch ON, you should get battery voltage. Y/Bu between pump relay and spark unit, get continuity. Bl/Bu wire between pump relay and fuel pump, get continuity. measure all from wire harness side.
