Rim Job
Ok, here is my first attempt at a polishing a CBR rim.
It's not perfect and pleasekeep thisin mind thatthe rim is 20 years old.
The rim has somecasting flaws and some really deep scratches that I was not able to remove with out digging deep into the aluminum.
I am sure a professional polisherwould be able clean them up, I am not a professional aluminum polisher so please keep this in mind..
So here it is, link

Not bad at all for your first RIM JOB.
Just wondering how are you going to get
the center of the wheel or are you going to leave it? I'm thinking maybe with a
dremel tool? Did you us airplane cleaner?

The left side has the sprocket mount and that has been polished, I did that last month,so I think the center of the rim should be ok, I just need to clean up the sprocket.
I used an automotivetype paintremover, not the type used for home paint stripping. $12.00 a gallon at Lowe's Hardware.
2 applications and the rim was clean.
The one thing no one has noticedis that I ground off the lettering inside of each spoke and the casting fill lugson the reverse side to get the smooth look inside of each spoke.
That by far was the hardest part of the "Rim Job".
My next step will be to go over the rim with 1200 gritwet sand paper on the die grinderand then polishand seal with a clear coat.
Looks a lot likethese without the crazy price.
