Default Rebuilding Forks

So it looks like I'm going to be incharge of rebuild the Forks on my buddies 1988 CBR600F.

I have mentioned in a past thread that they are very spongey and soft.

Anyways, I would appreciate any input on what others have done to their stock forks.

I've been on the racetech site and looking at their spring rate calculator it looks like the stock .512 kg/mm fork spring rate is about half the spring rate then what they recommend for the riders weight. (.902 kg/mm)

Has anyone installed aftermarket springs in there Hurricane Forks? Do you need to trim the spacer or modifiy anything or do they pop right in?

What Fork weight Oil did you use? (RT recommends 15w oil)

Any other info would be great....thanks!

Give the guys at Race Tech a call & discuss your questions & concerns. In my experience, they have been very attentive & willing to help.

Thanks, but I'd rather not. Long distance phone calls just for a plain jane rebuild on someone elses bike isn't worth it.

I already used RT weight calculator to pick a good spring rate.

I'm just looking for insight and advice from others who have rebuilt or modified their first gen CBR forks.
