The fan works. I know this because when I ground the wire going to the fan it kicks on and runs just fine, the problem has something to do with the thermo switch. I looked through the thermo switch testing proceedure in my clymer manual and it looks like a real pain in the butt to do. Maybe I'll just run it through a toggle switch

PSonic, yeah the fuse box will be relocated, I just have to lengthen all the wires so I can hide it under the seat. I've just been putting it off because I ran out of heat shrink tubing.

There's been a little change in plans since I last updated this. I decided that I really didn't like the look of that massive round headlight so I ordered one from acerbis. I think it will look 100X better, hopefully it puts out a reasonable amount of light too.

The fairings and tank are at the paint shop right now. Last friday he told me that he might have them done by the middle of this week. I hope he's true to his word because I'm going nuts not being able to ride!

I ordered the last of the parts yesterday. I got different turn signals, the acerbis headlight, decals, and mirrors on the way. May be done by the end of the week!

Finally on the road!!! Here's how she looks at the moment. This project is pretty much complete, and I think I'm happy with the way it turned out.

Things left to do-
New chain, gonna try to find a gold one to match the forks and calipers
Get that stupid thermo switch working properly
Add a resistor to the turn signal wiring (blinkers are way to fast)

CSXfan,
First-Awesome looking machine. I enjoy reading on how the project has been progressing. I has inspired me to finish up my bike.
Second-Do you still have the original fairings ? Are they for sale? I am in need of some and might be interested if the price is right. I am in Michigan too.

That turned out great! Are you sticking with those mirrors? Somehow they don't fit the theme for me - too enduro.

Thanks guys! Stanley, I have all the original fairings minus the tail pieces that goes behind the seat. They're not in the greatest shape though, that's why I took the streetfighter route. Also, my cousin just bought an '88 cane that has no fairings and he said he was interested in buying them off me. I'm not sure if he still wants them though, I will let you know.

ishootstuff, yeah I know what you're saying about the mirrors. They were cheap and they were the best looking ones I could find on short notice. I'd like to get some that look like the newer Kawasaki Ninja 250s, but I'm not having much luck. What would you suggest?

Your Hurricane looks like a Hornet!!! You dont have the steering weight.

I love it, very nice work. Front fender is wonderful, can you told me where you get or what bike model from?

Good question! You did so good with the rest of it, I thought maybe you had future plans. What about some bar end mirrors like this?

MOTORCYCLE REVERSIBLE BAR END REAR SIDE MIRROR 7/8'' X1 | eBay

PSonic, thanks very much. It's funny you bring up the steering weight issue, I'm not sure how much weight I took off the front end, but I can definitely feel a difference. I feel like I can throw the bike into corners a lot easier now. The front fender is from a 2004 Kawasaki ZX636. It's a very tight fit and I had to do a little trimming, but I think it turned out well.

ishootstuff, I looked into bar end mirrors, but I'm just not a fan. I like something sticking up over the handlebars, and I like seeing what's going on behind me so I want a decent sized mirror. I'll probably keep it like this for a while anyway, I spent way too much money as it is!
