Original Hurricane Brochure... scanned
I bet quite a few of us have seen this already, but I thought it was worth scanning to share here... this is the dealer brochure for the 1988 model.. CBR600F

"Innovative fresh-air ducting system effectively isolates the rider from engine heat."
I disagree! It effectively cooks my legs when riding on a hot day!
I agree with everything else! ( I have the red one!)

For the F1 bikes, I would say that you should treat a purchase as you would any older bike - I have owned a few of these and would think the engine will be fine in most cases, it is the nickel and dime stuff that you should consider, as well as the condition of the plastic bodywork. My bike looks mint from about ten feet away, but with any older bike, the plastic is old and tends to stress and crack in places if you ride the bike over bumpy roads ;-(
Plan to maybe do a new cam chain tensioner in the near future if it makes noise, and to change all the fluids and battery if these have not been done.... I can't think of any CBR600F1 issues that are specific just to this model other than the infamous frame cracking which you can check out in this forum (I think it might have a sticky) as well as the cam chain tensioner. Look at the fork seals, brakes, all the normal stuff, and walk away from the bike if anything scares you, or looks out of alignment. The steering head bearings can get nicked if the bike was ridden hard, and this can be felt during slow riding in circles, or by checking free play up on a stand with the front wheel raised. Look inside the tank to make sure it looks shiny and the fuel is clean... I am always scared of bikes with that tank coating that is done to cover rust. For the most part, you can find tune up parts and electrical items for these bikes no problem. Good luck.
