Hey guys I just picked up a 1987 cbr 600. This is my first bike, and I was wondering if you guys could give me some tips or pointers. It has 20k miles on it and it needs a new paintjob, but I only paid 1,000 bucks for it. What do you think?

 

Not bad at all, I paid more than that for mine with 30K+. Pics? Have you taken the MSF and/or invested in any gear yet?

 

I have a helmet and other gear I use for my four wheeler that matches as far as color that I will probably use. I will get my license this July after I take the local abate safety course etc... I will upload some pictures before too long, maybe tomorrow. The only really bad part is that I have to get a new tank because mine leaks and its rusty inside. And it has some cracks in some of the fairings. The color scheme of the bike is honda red and a sort of silver/white, but one of the fairings is off of another bike and its black with red stripes. lol its the main right side fairing over the motor.

 

I just ordered myself a shop manual, so now I can do basic maintenance and tuning to it. Although what weight of synthetic oil should I use? I will hopefully get some pictures of it up tomorrow, but here is the one that was on craigslist when I bought it. The picture doesn't express the true crappyness of it though.

I had to do this because I am on linux and my image format is not supported : (
