New motor problems. Or maybe even the carbs?
blew my last motor... bought a used one... replaced the head gasket... retimed it... put on new carb boots... bike has after market pipe and a k&n air filter and has been rejetted. new plugs... fresh gas
Bike starts and idles but when i give it gas it will only rev up to about 9k then it hits a wall and will rev no more. also when i put it under load it dies immediately. running too rich? not sure how to fix this any ideas????
thanks

i beileve so, had it done by a friends dad whos a foreman at a mechanic shop.
small update, two pistons arent firing on left side, i put my hands on the exhaust while it was running both pies were cold, they have spark and when i pulled the plugs they had about a drop of gas on each one, plugs look brand new, no discoloration at all

there are 2 "groups" of cylinders. 1&4 and 2&3 run off of the 2 coils and the coils are fed by the spark unit.
If you are saying that cylinder 1 & 2 aren't sparking, I would check to make sure that the plugs are wired correctly to the coils first to make sure that you aren't dealing with a coil issue. The only adjacent plugs that go to the same coil are 2&3.

i doubted the coil problem for that reason. if your sitting on the bike the two cyliders on your left side will not be firing. but they are getting spark, i took the plugs out and tested. so im pretty sure its not an electrical issue. but the plugs are sopping wet with gas, bike backfires pretty hard and has a deep tone to the exhaust...
drivin me nuts been piecing the bike together allllll summer and this is the final problem before im road ready!
any other ideas?????

Blew apart the carbs, they were very clean, (cleaned them when i bought the bike and stabilized it threw winter), they look spotless on the inside, and yes i did every jet every where.
as for a pinched gasket, im curious can you elaborate Kong Bastard?
