Default New to forum, also need an OEM rear suspension!

Hi everyone! I'm new to this forum, but a regular over at riderforums.com. I am staying in my hometown, Pittsburgh, for the summer, and happened to buy a 1989 CBR600F1 (for $600!). I had some minor fixes to take care of, mainly the paint job, fairing repair, and now some suspension work and brake replacement. It's almost done, but I couldn't wait to take the big ride to DC to visit my college roomie living there now.

I wanna see if anyone has an OEM or aftermarket rear suspension for this bike that I can buy for cheap (<$100 if possible). I really appreciate it, and I'll be checking in regularly.

I think I attached a pic of both my bikes (CBR in Pittsburgh, Kawasaki ZR-7S in Pasadena).

looks nice, if i didnt just get off of mine i would have thought you stole it. yours is a little cleaner though. what piece are you looking for, the shock or the swingarm? you may want to check Craigslist if you have not already, or eBay there is normally alot of stuff on there and you can get a pretty good deal as well.

Not a whole lot on eBay right now, give it a few days and it will pickup.

I just need the shock, but a new swingarm with it wouldn't be bad. I looked on craiglist, but no luck, even in the california area where I'll be in a month. Haven't checked eBay, i usually dont have any luck with new components, but maybe some good old ones. thanks rr!

yeah, there normally is a shock on ebay. have not seen many swingarms on there though. you may also want to try a salvage network such as http://www.riderparts.com .

rr, pulling through in the clutch! I easily won the part (no one else bid on it). I'll let you know how the replacement goes, the front end is getting revamped with some new forks. Once I get both of those on, it's down to the Dragon, and that's when I'll let you know what my top speed is[sm=badbadbad.gif]

****! I didn't even catch that...I even looked it over and looked to be the right part. Anyway, ya think I'll be able to mount it on the 600 model?

short answer... NO.

long answer... maybe. but quite possibly, NO.

1. slightly wider at both ends than 600 unit.

2. rim will not fit unless you get 1000 or make new wheel spacers.

3. suspension will not work correctly as it is missing a substantial amount of height and top mounting is in a different location.

4. could make one interesting project.

5. maybe i should not have pointed out the error and see what you were going to come up with when you received it.
