Default My new cane "streetfighter" work in progress

Alright gentleman. Finally got the rest of the cash I needed. Sold my old CB650 Nighthawk, and pick up this bad boy last night:

yoshi exhaust, -1 +2 sprockets, '04 tail fairing on custom sub frame.

She all good mechanically, but the body needs some obvious work, I'm planning on finishing the project over the winter and just riding her as is for right now.

So right away I've got a few questions.
-How can you tighten the mirrors, these keep falling down and reflecting the paint on the road.
-Also, I'm looking into aftermarket mirrors that could hopefully give me a better view of the road behind, I can't see anything in the mirrors that are on it.

-I noticed that it hits the rev limiter before the redline, most noticably in 2nd gear. Not sure if the RPM gauge is off, or what could cause this.

-I'd like to get some softer hand grips to absorb some of the viberation, my hands were numb after riding into work this morning.

any suggestions, comments, please let me know.

my favorite angle shot, and a nice view of the sub frame:

I'm really looking forward to fixing this bike up right.

I'm psyced especially after riding the nighthawk for a year, **** came with saddle bags, lol
(but get me wrong, she was a great bike to learn on)

Hey, pick up the OEM tank plastics to clean up the gap between the tank and the tail, they are cheap. I got mine from RonAyers.com for like $9.00 each. Here is a pic of mine so you can see the difference. Other than that good luck with your new ride.

mirrors...pull back the rubber boot and there will be a hex bolt you can tighten or loosen to adjust to the right angle. i found me a pair of carbon mirrors on ebay for like $30, they were supposed to fit F1s but the spacing was off, so i just drilled holes in the fairing and stay for them, the old hole was covered by the base anyway.

as far as the RPMs, my F1 does not have very much low end torque, when real cool (right when i start riding) it will respond very well, however after it gets up to temp and a little warmer it starts to hesitate and starts failing at higher RPMs in lower gears, once i get to about 3rd it begins to pick it up a bit. but stays like this until i ride again...i need to flush my cooling system too though.

and for the grips, it may be the grips, however i noticed my hands and palms begin to hurt when i dont support myself...the riding position is much different on a sportbike than your nighthawk. since you are angled forward you will tend to rest yor weight on your hands. since i started supporting myself with my back and not leaning on the bars, it relieves much of the pressure. you could also get some gel grips as well.

PS...+1 on the side covers...you very much need them they will make a world of a difference. here are the part #s:

Right: 83600-MEE-000ZA
Left: 83600-MEE-000ZA

go to http://www.servicehonda.com/parts.php

they are like $7.40 each there.

thanks for the help guys, Where could I find some of those Spider Grips? Yes I realize the riding position is going to take some getting use to.

I'll probably be getting a set of aftermarket mirrors, rrasco, which ones did you get from ebay? how do you like em?

I'll def be lookin into getting a set of those cover to clean up the body work, those part numbers are the same, but I'll figure it out.

I was thinking of getting a rear fender as well.

I found em for $62 from Air tech:

oops

Right: 83600-MEE-000ZA
Left: 83700-MEE-000ZA

better?

my mirrors i have not found them again, ill snap a shot of them at lunch. but i still have not seen them again, ill take a look around for ya though.

im not sure what other year fenders fit, but you may want to swap it out with one from an F2 or something, not as bulky and they look like the same mounting, you should be able to get one from ebay for less than from airtech. im planning on swapping my front fender with one from an F2.

I found my Spider grips at my local dealer. They had an entire section of grips and the part guy told me they were the best buy and they are great!

Is there even a good reason to keep the rear fender on? I took mine off I think it looks alot better without one.

Here in PA we need to have a chain guard in order to pass inspection. The F1 fender and guard is one piece. I took mine off because I didn't like the way it looked.

did yours come with one ras, or did you buy one and then decide to take it off?
