My CBR.
Hi all.
I've bought a 1989 cbr 600 for £200 as it needs some love to get it working. I its complete and the paint works not to bad, the plastics need some work in places but i guess that to be expected.
This is how it looked when i bought it

Ive just taken the plastics off as i planed to get it running today only i've noticed a small problem with the exhaust, its rusted away were the 4-2-1 bit is

hey £200 for this awesome bike is fantastic! even with some hidden surprises like the exhaust. I paid £500 for mine and it too has got lots of little nasty bits to it, it won't be long till you're laughing about it and its all part of the fun. Time to get looking on ebay matey
Yeah, for 200 quid you got a nice looker, at least from the pics I can see. You can find headers or full exhaust systems on ebay, albeit not usually that cheaply. Still - you still will be ahead of the game in the long run.
So you haven't heard it run? Any idea what is wrong with it?

I know the guy i bought it off and it was in use until it failed the mot on the exhaust blowing as i did offer to weld it for him at the time but he just parked it up and was taken ill for a time and never bothered with it after so it should just need new fluids and an exhaust to run again..... only time will tell
I'm sure he will. There aren't too many people looking for those.
Judging by your picture, the other thing I would look at is your chain/sprockets. They looks pretty rusted up. A bit of surface corrosion can usually be dealt with, but if it any worse, your best to replace them. Chains and sprockets are not too expensive.

I've turned the motor over and it spins ok, i charged the battery on the off chance but i thought it would be shot but my charger said it was good so i put it on the bike and pressed the button and would you believe it, the bike turned over and it seems to be holding the charge
