Default My bike needs some cosmetic help!

so i just got my 87 600 and the plastics are garbage.. the front fairing is broken, the tail piece has filler cracks all over it, and the side pieces arent even there.. just wondering if anyone has some used plastics theyd be willing to sell dirt cheap.. or know where i can find them for a decent price.. ive searched ebay and people on there are wanting like $170 for one side fairing in poor condition..

also, would it be more cost effective just to strip it down and build a street fighter? or would that end up costing more in the long run?

any help is appreciated

Before dumping money into cosmetic...make sure the engine is sound! Strong! Reliable....did you just bought the bike? If so, ride it for a bit.....once you have confidence that bike will not fail on you....then go for looks....I would strip down and buy a set of race fairings...don't just log on and buy at full retail...too much $$$...wait for opportunity...I see great deals popping up on eBay and CL....

Know this though..most expensive will be turning that bike back to original! Factory OEM....so it's your call.

Maybe after a few m

You can repair just about anything wrong with the fairings with abs pipe cement and some patience. I patched a big hole and many smaller cracks in mine and you can't even tell there was anything wrong after painting them.

As far as the missing ones the only options I'm aware of are Airtech or Maier for new pieces. Some good deals come up on Ebay occasionally, but most of the stuff that's on there is pretty expensive. OE body panels are getting harder to find every year.

+1 I've always likes the streetfighter look.

As everyone else has pointed out, the fairings are not cheap. The rate of people breaking them is much greater than the rate they are producing them. Supply/demand means high $. If your lucky, you can find a cheap parts bike, take what you need than flip it.

i just saw a hurricane with a 929 front end on it.. has anyone here ever done this swap, and if so, is there a write-up on how to do it? such as what to do about the fairing support and what not
