Default My 1990 CBR fighter

Ive had the bike for about a year. My dad paid $400 for it from a guy that I train with. It sat up until about two weeks ago when I was on Spring break and got bored and started to mess with it. I got it to start after hooking a battery charger straight up to the starter. It ran pretty rough but it did start. I changed the starter solenoid and that fixed the electric start.

I've got quite a bit of work to do but I'm hoping to have it going in about one or two weeks. I'm in the middle of taking most everything off and painting the frame, tank, and engine and clutch cases. I'm late on taking pictures but here's how he sits.
Here's some pictures of the progress so far. Let me know what you guys think.

I just got an '89, and am in the same process as yourself. What are your plans for it? And ya, that swing arm looks really nice, whats the donor?

I'm not sure at all where the swing arm came from. It definitely is from another bike. It currently has a 180/55 tire on it. The shifting is different too. Instead of 1 down 5 up, it's 1 up 5 down. I think Its like that to be able to shift gears when you're doing wheelies or something.

My plan is to use it as my stunt bike and also my commuter. I also have a 06 gsxr 1000 that I ride a lot. I'm looking at the dominator headlight right now And I'm pretty sure that's What I'm going to get. I plan on putting an 03-06 cbr 600 tail on it too. But I gotta get it painted and running good before I do any cosmetics of course. Hopefully I'll have it running by this weekend.

if you need any help with tha tail swap feel free to pm me i just finished my rr tail swap and its pretty easy. Btw 03-04 is different than 05-06 and looks much less gappy when installed. You should take some close up pics of the swingarm and shock mounts if you dont mind, thats the next mod on the list for my hurricane.

Thanks for letting me know. If I don't like how it is, I'll probably change it back to how it regularly is.

Once I get this all put back together I'll probably shoot you a few PM's. Its next on the list after getting the headlight and new tires.
Ill also post up some pics of the swing arm once I get done uncovering everything. You'll see in the pictures I'm about to post how it would be difficult to get a clean picture of the swing arm haha.

Default Update 03/26/2012

So here's the update.
Over the weekend I managed to grind down the entire frame, mask it off, primer and paint it. It took about 12 hours of off and on work to get it done but it doesn't look bad and looks a lot better than it did. Also painted the rear sets while I had everything broken down.
I'm panting the crank case and clutch cover this weekend, both a glossy black. The tank is almost all stripped down and ready to paint as well. I'm doing a black and red sort of paint job for it. Not really sure how but thats the plan. Any ideas would be awesome.
Anyways, here's the pics. Let me know what you guys think.

Default And some more.

They're not organized but you can tell the difference between the primer and the actual paint, although they are pretty close in color.
