Default misfire "Bucking"

hey my 87 600 cain is having a misfire problem, it wont do it at idle only wial accelerating and coasting, only wial the throttles open
it misfires repeatedly like its not sparking tach drops at least 1k-2k rpm each time it misses then jumps back up to where it should be and all of this happens within a second
if the throttles open it make the bike "buck" wial its missing
and this is compleatly random too, i rode today for a half hour or so before it started doing this and it ran great, then starts missing, then runs fine again, then starts missing randomly again, it seems as if power to the spark controller is being cut for half a second maybe?
it did do this a few times last year too towards the end of the year.
i just replaced the pulse generator this past weekend after a no start issue?
has anyone had a simular problem? the wiring on my bike it kinda ****ty so i was thinking of rewiring power all the way from the bat to switch to spark controller

I'd start by replacing the plugs.

i supose it wouldnt hurt to change the plugs again,
problem has gotten worse, i tried to take her out today, tach is dropping to almost zero now it dead drops not following engine rpm, and its doing it more consistently and almost always over bumps, im thinking its time to order a wire harness, or is there a relay somewere>?

Fueling. A surge misfire is usually the bike leaning out in one or more cylinders. Check the fuel filter, fuel pump, and the spark plugs.

not the same at all, i tried taking it out to make a video and it ran fine lol thats my luck
iv pretty much narrowed it down to being a wiring problem, my harness has been cut and taped up in so many spots its not even funny... they didnt even do a decent job at it
plus theres corosion around my connectors, my bike is naked except for the tail and wiring is untucked, looks like i got alot of work to do

That could very well be your issue right there.. at least it's a good place to start for sure. I was thinking something electrical related due to the way the tach reacts when it starts running badly. Check all your ground connections to the battery & frame when you are cleaning up the harness too. Also make sure the wiring & connectors to the stator and regulator/rectifier are not corroded or burnt.

I think this is the same problem that pops up every other month or so on here.
I have also had a similar problem

let your bike run and wiggle your starter relay
does the problem happen?

if so then that is your culprit. mine had a broken pin holding in the fuse that would cause the bike to lose power temporarily over bumps and such

i'm 90% sure this is your problem

Hello there. I believe your bike has 2 ignition coils and two spark plug out puts each. If that's the case do check those cables and spark plug connectors for damage(continuity, resistance... visually I think it's possible "unthread" the cables and check if they are tight fit correctly against the coil). If they are not ok most cases('carbed' hornet 600 for instance) they are replaceable.
