With the relay in place the pump is not turned on until the ignition switch is turned to start. Without it the pump is on as soon as power is on. This could create a hazard in some situations.
+1 on everything except I believe the fuel pump is tied to the Start-Stop switch on the handlebar rather than the ignition switch.

There isn't a choke screw adjustment. Are you talking about the black **** on the side? That is the idle speed adjustment. Normally the pilot screws are adjusted on the bike when warm and then the idle is set to spec with that ****.


If you look in the manual you will see the procedure.
