Just bought a 600 hurricane and cant get it runing HELP PLEASE
I bought the 1988 cbr 600f from my neigbor and he had it running for a season and then let it sit for a year and a half. I got a new battary for it and drain all the gas out of it and put fresh gas in it and i cant get it started. but when i spary starter fluid straight into the carbs i can get it to start.but when i hook the gas tank back up to it, it wont start. what do i have to do to get this pig started.

Since it starts when you spray starting fluid, you have to start with the fuel. First you have to see if gas is getting to the carbs. Check the petcock, vacuum line to petcock, kinked fuel line, and vent hoses. Once you have fuel to carb, you have to see if fuel is getting to the cylinders. Since the bike sat for a year, I assume the carbs are clogged. They have to be taken off and cleaned. If you want to do it yourself, I recommend the Haynes manual for your year.

any money says it's the carbs (if the fuel pump is working)... if it is at all possible on the bike, take the aif filters, etc off the carb, and crank the bike over a couple times with the throttle wide open and your hand completely closing the inlet side of the carb, do it to each carb. I have found this can help get little bits of dirt, corrosion etc unseated from carb jets without having to take them completely apart
