Default Honda CBRa 600 F (problems)

What are the main problems with your hurricane bikes ? What kind of problems do you had since you bought the bike ?

Because the question is vague. There are all kinds of problems with 20 year old bikes...
all can be fixed with parts readily available. Most have Regulator/Rectifier problems and dirty carbs. Otherwise the engines are almost bullet proof.

F3's are the best of them, espescially given the vastly improved suspension available on the F3. The engine is just a slight touch up to the F2's, but with very overhauled suspension. THe hurricanes started it all, and are respectable bikes, but just don't compare to the F2 or F3, and espescially to modern bikes. The f2 and F3 can hold their own alongside modern bikes with a little bit of work.

If it's your first bike, get the cheapest bike, even go street fightered. The likelyhood of you crashing is really high, so don't buy a bike you'll cry over when it happens. Go cheap, and once you got a year of confidence sell the thing. You'll get what you paid for it back most likely, and be able to move on to a nicer bike and get all your beginner bumps out of the way.

Also, the F2 and F3 are a bit much for a first bike!

If you have no mechanical know how, a 20+ year old motorcycle that may have been abused isn't for you. The good news about all the CBR's though is that aside from basic maintenance stuff, they tend to hold up really well and require little work.

Distribution chain? Do you mean the camchain?

Cam chain tensioners commonly fail, causing excessive throw on the chain, and a lot of noise and rattling. It is an easy repair however, and as long as it isn't allowed to go on for too long, is no big deal. Cam chains typically don't fail unless heavily neglected on these bikes, but when they do fail they like take a decent amount of the engine with it usually (valves namely from a friends experience ).

If the cam chain is broken, it's toast. Don't even look at it.
