Help Cleaning Carbs Plz?
ok so i just bought a 89 cbr 600. it starts up fine and will idle all day but it starves for gas and when it does take the gas it hesitates and spits and spudders. it will rev to about 5k and then after that it wont go to much further. i dont know to much bout bikes but im 99% sure its just that the carbs need cleaning? and i was wondering wat the best or easiest solution would be to fix this problem?

Use carb cleaner. But from what you are describing i would make sure your choke is not stuck on.
Flip them upside down, remove the floats, remove the jets, make sure you clean the jets very well, you should be able to see light shine through them when you are done. Also spray through all passages in the carbs, make sure your slides move free, check the slide cut off valves. When reassembling make sure you take your time setting float heights and sync the carbs when you are done and reinstalled.
While you have them off check and maybe replace your intake boots. When they get old they get hard and can let air in leaning out your mixture.

it helps to completly take them apart. you will need to syncronize, and might replace some seals.
before you pull them, make sure all the chokes move together, and that none of the hardware is loose. careful with the float bowls and slide covers, the seals like to stick and will split easy. download and read the manual how to bench snyc the carbs, if you get all the throttle valves open to the right position, it should run well.
