Valve clearances whilst it’s easy to get at them?

Yes I’ll take rocker off and get them done, I’ll check the clutch plates also but I was wondering what’s the best way of cleaning out the old oil , I think it’s sat for a few years , apart from draining it I didn’t know if there was any other way of giving it a clean

The compression was changed to cold, it was sufficient for a cold engine. The engine was stored with the cylinders filled with oil. The cylinders need to be washed, they can be filled with rostlöser to remove any remaining oil

this was the message he sent me

Also if compression-tester that had bleed-valve near gauge, it will always read low. Because volume of hose between head and gauge is added to combustion-chamber volume. For more accurate readings, need to use tester that has bleed-valve inside tip of hose that screws into spark-plug hole. Then no additional volume is added to combustion-chamber.

If cylinders filled with oil... hmm, need to drain all that oil 1st. Don't need to wash really, just crank for 5-10s with plugs removed and it should blast all extra oil out plug holes.

Ok perfect cheers Dan , so drain oil and then crank acouple times to get some out the spark plug holes! Sweet and then just get her in the bike ?

No!

Remove the plugs, then crank the engine a couple of times to drain the oil from the cylinders through the spark plug holes.

Then, if required, drain the oil - do not drain the oil and then crank the engine.

Ahhhh ok !!! Got it thanks mate

I mean leave oil in crankcase. Drain oil from cylinders.

Otherwise you’ll hydrolock engine when cranking and bend rods. Easy way is to remove plugs, pick up engine, flip upside-down and shake vigorously. That should drain most of oil from cylinders. Then crank starter to blow out rest.

Ok , so I have the engine in my garage wrapped in plastic , so it has no spark plugs etc in it

So it will be exactly like this , I’m in Holland now but back on Sunday and it’s waiting for me in garage, so should I take the rocker case off and flip upside down or leave the case on ? Once I’ve turnt upside down then crank it to get any more out ? And then drain oil from the oil nut
