Frame Sliders
Anyone have any ideas for mounting some sliders to an F1? I know its been done before, but it was naked. i want to add some sliders to protect my new paint when it goes on........any suggestions?
i am going to cut through the side fairing while on the bike and drill and tap a hole in the frame.(follow the frame while looking at it then drill a little hole were you want it, then use one of the circle drill bits to your size slider, and look through the little hole to pinpoint were to make the hole for the slider.
if you flip the side access panels over, you will see a hole that is made to clear the engine frame bolt. you can continue that hole through the outside of the panel. use 900 rr sliders with an extended bolt to replace the one for the engine mounting. no need to tap frame. it is not good for the frame if there is no bolt boss to back-up the frame rail(s).
It may sound easy, but you only got one shot at it...I would recommend getting help from someone who has done it. Or just pay the $100 bucks and take it to a shop to save the hassel. My friend totally boned his and had to cut two holes (he is a dumbass tho) and I had my friend, who works at the Honda dealer, do it for me.
yeah, the issue at hand is that they dont make sliders for the F1. so i must improvise.
i am a little weary of cutting my plastics though, but i do have a dremel and have cut lots of stuff before.

hey rrasco i saw a while back in the cbr world net a post about 900rr frame sliders working for hurcs. i think if you get to the hurricane forum and in the top right search "frame sliders" theres some posts that might have some good insight. also i think i also ran across a good "how to" somewhere on that sight. good luck
you must be talking about this post....thanks for the heads up.

okay, so you don't think you can glass a set of replacements. does it matter if they look like oem? wait a little bit and let me come up with a solution and i'll post. how about that? like the man in the toiletstall said to the guy waiting outside, "just give me time".
