Default Fork seals! first timer

So my 89 hurricane 600 has had dangerously squishy/squashy leaky forks for the last two years, I finally picked up an OEM seal kit from the dealer, and some shock oil. I saw the thread on here with the DIY fork seal pictures (from the manual, which I have) but I'm still not quite sure how to pull the forks off...

At the same time, I need to change my rotors, so I guess when the front wheel is off I can just do that. Anyone know torque specs on rotors? can I reuse the bolts (with blue loctite i assume)

I have a cherry picker, so I was just going to pickup the front end of the bike with that by the frame or something. Now what exactly do I do/what steps to get the forks off?

I'm sure once I have them off, I can figure out how to swap the seals.

and in the manual, whenever it says "right side" that is assuming that you are sitting on the bike, correct?

forks are easy to pull off

1. suspend front of bike off ground

2. remove brake calipers. i recommend getting a coat hanger and cutting it open to use as a hook for the calipers to hang on. try not to let them dangle by the hose if you can avoid it.

3. remove wheel

4. remove on the top of each fork tube a large clip. if not there, don't worry about it

5. remove clip-ons from each fork tube, no need to remove electrical controls or lever controls

6. if you cannot access bottom clamp pinch bolts remove front fairing.

7. loosen bottom clamp pinch bolts

8. loosen one top clamp pinch bolt, slide out fork, put off to side

9. loosen other top clamp pinch bolt, slide out fork, put off to side

10. work on forks.

before you loosen the clamp and pull the forks, loosen the top fork cap.

Thank you guys very much! I'll tackle this next weekend. Can I re-use the bolts holding on the rotors? What is the torque on them? I assume go with some blue loctite?

yes you can reuse the rotor bolts, and i would suggest some locktight. the manual states 20 ftlbs for the bolts.
