Default float bowls leaking - missing o rings?

Hey guys - first post!

Been working on an 89 hurricane on and off for a year. I've worked out my fuel pump and pilot screw issues, now I just need to figure out this fuel leak!

Leaking form the bottom of the float bowls. Tomorrow I will take the carbs off and investigate gaskets, the couple I checked were fine visually.

I also pulled out one of the overflow valves from the bottom of the float bowl and it was just the needle screw, no o ring, washer, gasket or anything. I read another post that sounded like there was supposed to be an o ring in there. Anyone know if I'm missing an o ring?

Good info in the linked thread, havent tried it myself but might be worth a try before spending the 20$ on each carb for the oem gasket kit.

I saw that on the forum. Great idea. I used permatex gasket sealant. Working great so far.

As far as the drain screws I was missing an o ring seal on one of them, used a metric replacement - fuel leak solved.

Now time to change plugs and figure out the cct.

You aren't the first person to puzzle over plugs.

This thread illustrates some of the trouble

so 18mm is the answer, but it sounds like you will need a thin-walled socket if not a dedicated plug-socket.
