Default F2 rims! looking into a swap

Well, after too long with crappy tire options I think I know a solution that only requires changing bearings. the F2 rim is set up for a 160 rear tire, and uses a bearing with the same outer diameter as the Hurricane's bearings, and the front rim, still drives the speedometer, and is also the same bearing size inside, so I'm looking at doing an F2 rim swap front and rear.

so far it looks like this is an EASY modification to make a 120 front and 160 rear doable. I'll probably be asking for a set of wheels for christmas, and see what I can get.

let us know if it works. i think i've read on here you have to swap forks and swingarm for the wider rims. is it just the axles that are different?

I"m going to be doing some measurements on the stock swingarm. I'm pretty sure its equal to the GS500E swingarm, which will accept a 4.5" wheel with a 160 rear tire on it, so we shall see. worst case scenario, I buy the rims, it doesnt quite work out so I just get the F2 swingarm and front end to upgrade. no biggie.

I've ordered the rims now, and will have them sometime this coming week hopefully. I'll update you all when I get them and try at least to bolt em up as to how successful the swap is/was.

And to update everyone, with a little machining of the cush drive, and the appropriate bearing changes, the rear wheels will fit, but the front wheel requires the F2 triple trees and forks due to width issues.

good to know the rear fits with minor changes to the wheel. i've read to use the F2 rear rim you had to use the swingarm, and then you had lots of modifications like shock location and different size pivot bolts and widths.
you should post up some pics of what you have to do to the wheel incase anyone else thinks about doing this conversion.

I havent made any of the mods yet, I'm presently repairing the engine, which is where all my finances are going, then I'll mess with the swingarm. I'm probably just going to get the F2 swinger and do a full on suspension swap. my ohlins is leaking in the back and I dont really want to repair/replace it.
