Angry Electrical/battery issues. Need help.

So my 1989 CBR 600 has been running great all summer. Now for the past month or so, it won't start unless I leave a battery charger on it over night, or unless I jump it. Now for the past week or so, I will leave it on the charger over night, then ride the next day, but it will die when I go to take off from a dead stop.

Could this be the result of a bad battery? or could I have other wiring issues?? Please help! I love riding this bike, but I'm seriously considering selling, or parting it out.

Sounds like a dead battery to me. What kind of a charger are you using? If its charging at 10 Amp's you're going to boil the battery. Motorcycle batteries should be charged slowly with a 2A charger.

I use a 1 amp trickle charger. I'm too broke to buy a new battery right now. Hopefully this week's check will prove enough to buy one and see if that fixes the problem!

Well I broke down and bought a battery on Saturday. Filled it up, let it sit, let it charge. Then I took the bike for a spin. Started right up first try, ran great the whole 45 minutes I rode it. Looks like that was my issue.

I did read that using anything more than 2 amps would shorten the life of a battery, so I think that's why my last one fried so quickly.
