hello all,1st let me say sorry if puntuation not good im not so good at it and have had it pointed out before . i have some problems and advice/remedies are needed. i bought a 1987 cbr 600f ran without a problem for the first year then it starts acting up .year 1 mainly trips of 10 miles or less year2 i take it on a 200 mile trip 1st time ok 2nd trip at around 60mph top gear lights and dash and motor dies it was 10 pm 16 miles from home i get off remove seat and the battery burned my hand it was sizzleing and ignition fuse blown bike not turnin over . swap fuse dim neutral light goes out when starter pressed ,nothing happens swapped fuse didnt blow. assumption battery?. push it 4 miles to garage find rac man filling up his lorry, ask him to take a look he put his booster box on it and it fired strait away, removes booster while running fine it dies and blows fuse again.swap fuse this time when rac put booster on the cdi fries .right cloud of smelly smoke.i get the bike home go an buy new battery for £35 and used cdi for £50 fit to bike every thing rosy again yay i thought.ive since done 230 miles and today went to use the indicators after about 400 yards engine started cutting out in time with the indicator flash 20 yards later it dies blown ign fuse hot battery again now fed up decides to get out my multimeter start the various test i found from cbr forum all normal except seem to be getting around 50v charging wich i suppose is why battery is boiling and with everything switched off i have a 6.8v power drain wich zeros when i unplug the red plug off the rr.here comes the questions
1 is this indicating a faulty rr.
2would this cause the cdi to fry.
3 what else could cause this problem twice now
4 is this the right rr googled the number on it says its for the vf 700/750/1000incase the number from pic is not readable its, SH541-12 7.3
5 can cdi units be fixed as it seems only one part is burnt . The bike been totally stripped down because of the cracked frame syndrome, having it welded theres a pic of the first part done any guesses what ? lol . anyways thanks for any and all advice in advance.more progress pics and questions to follow thanks again .

There are a few possibilities... I noticed in you third picture that you have painted the starter. The main chassis ground is at the starter. If there is paint on the engine block or starter housing you may have a high resistance ground there. It should be a metal on metal to have a good ground.
The diodes are cooked on the regulator/rectifier and yes this could cause the voltage spike that took out the cdi. They must have shorted rather than failed open.
You should replace the battery, r/r, cdi and if the stator is grounded it as well.
