Default Digital Spedometer

I am interested in putting a digital spedometer on my 89 cane, but I thought I read somewhere that it cant be done. I was wondering if anyone has done it, or if it would even work because I heard one goes by the engine and one by the front tire.

An easy option, assuming you just want the speedo and not a tach as well, is to get a gps/mount setup that will output your speed. It'll probably save you time and money and be more accurate than a speedo that works with the bike.

Here's a thread which asked the same question not so long ago. I'm still not sure if the guy ever got it sorted but you may want to pick up on it.

i swapped mine with a Koso digital speedo, it reads from the tire, it works really well at low speeds but on the highway it is hit and miss

i don,t know why on hot days it works but on cooler nights it doesn't, maybe the wind, you have to put in some numbers to calibrate the speedo maybe i did something wrong, they also have ones with tachs, www.kosonorthamerica.com is the website

Any of the universal aftermarket gauges should work. Acewell and Trailtech are pretty popular.

I only wanted a digital tach that also allows for 2 different shift points, voltages and just plain looks cool IMO. http://www.ecliptech.com.au/

here's what I installed last year from Ecliptech. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GT303rxarU0
