cbr600 33bhp restriction? how-to?
Hi, I have had a cbr600f 1990 for a few months now, been working on it, getting it running cleaning her up and i'm about to take my restricted motorcycle test which limits me to riding a 33bhp bike for 2 years, sadly the only means of restricting bikes around here (This is in the UK) is by taking it to a service station and they buy the kit from http://www.fiinternational.com/ShowD...00F&type=Honda
I realllly do not want to spend around £200 to restrict my bike, it's a complete ripoff, as far as I know it is just 4 washers with a hole cut into the middle that sit in the valves for the restriction.
I am wondering if it is possible to make these washers and homebrew the restriction myself, If anyone know what size washers + hole diameter or if it needs any other form of restriction (throttle stop? slide stops?) I would be greatly thankful, or even if there is a cheaper method to restricting it (ebay kits? I'v searched, found nothing so far).
Again thank you.
Ragnaco.

Sorry...can't help you on this one. We don't have the same restrictions placed on our new riders here by horsepower or displacement. Our government has left it up to the privatized insurance industry to discourage inexperienced riders from 600cc and over equipment through exorbitant premiums. There must be some of the kits floating around in the UK that have been removed.

Most people get them taken out by a service station who in turn keep the washers so sadly they are very hard to find and people who advertise them on ebay tend to not know which bike they are for or list several bikes as an option, Id rather not take the chance and end up a few HP over the 33bhp limit
and then id rather not spend £200 on something so stupid
I'm pretty sure iv seen someone post the washer sizes on this forum before just can't find the thread again.

hi mate,
im in the uk passed my test with the army , got a restricted license aswell

i think its a total waste of money but your right if something does happen the insurance will be over the bike like a rash!
sorry i haven't been much help
however if your in the area of south Lanarkshire and handy with a tool kit
we could sort it out only got 2 months left and im off to Germany in july for 2 years
