Default Cbr 600 Hurricane carb problems

Hey everyone! Ive been commuting back and forth with my cane and its been ok so far but it studders at about half throttle in any gear most of the time i just jump through gears until i hit the last one and then accelerate through the stutter until i get to 3/4 throttle and it clears up all the way through WOT. So i figured my air mixture screws needed to be adjusted. My caps were both gone on them so i tried to adjust them and not one but the 2 outside a/f mixture screws broke tf off. Fml. Now im not really sure what to do. Ive thought about ordering replacement parts but idk how the hell im gonna get the screws out and from what i can tell none come with a mixture screw just jets and o rings. So basically im to the point where im considering buying a whole new set of carbs with my fingers crossed that the same thing doesnt happen again. Ugh. So frustrating! 2 years ago i replaced all the jets with a new kit. But was unaware of them until i got it all back togather recently. Any help or suggestions from the cbrf would be a godsend. Thanks guys

fwiw, I found replacement idle screws were really tricky to locate for my Hurricane 1000. The good news is that if you bought an assembly, you'd have plenty of spares. It gets pricey though, and anything you bought would probably still need a good cleaning

Good luck

There are cast zinc screw caps on the screws from the factory. They have stops on them so you can’t adjust them because the factory had to meet the emissions requirements. In order to remove them you need to take the carbs apart. Once the float bowls are off you can remove them and grind or file the stops off so they are adjustable. If the caps broke off the heads are very small and impossible to remove. You might get them out with a needle nose pliers but if the carbs haven’t been apart for a long time they may be difficult. The only way I have found to get parts for these carbs is to buy used carb assemblies.

Thanks man i appreciate the reply. The brass air fuel adjustment screws on the outside are broken off flat so i would have to buy a new set or drill out the screw which is tricky as hell. So its been running ok could be better. Last time i had them apart i bench synced them and it was enough for it to run properly enough. Im most likely gonna just end up selling the old girl soon. I need something newer and more reliable. I may end up throwing a set of renthals on her and learning how to stunt with it.

this is what it looks like

Nice fighter. When I was converting my F1 into an RR It was a pretty cool fighter. I’ve considered putting one together with higher bars to make it more comfortable to ride.
