Default Carb Boots

I need new carburetor boots, I am contemplating trying to make my own out of some hoses that Napa has. I was wondering if anyone has had any luck with it before? Its $60 for all 4 boots from Honda. I think so long as they hold the carbs onto the head it will be fine, does anyone know the ID of the boots? I think I may have some on my extra carbs at home I can measure, just gotta check. Any reason you think I shouldn't do this?

As long as the hose doesn't break down when it comes in contact with fuel or heat you should be able to get away with it. I am not brave enough to try new materials in that area myself...I always imagine an insurance adjuster standing over my bike saying hmmmm thats not how it left the factory...

The hose will probably have too much flex in it. On another bike that I owned I had cracks in the boots so I slathered them with silicone sealant.

If yours are really far gone you may want to just get the OEM ones.

i'd go with the oem boots also.
the boots have a thick ridge inside that spaces the carbs away from the head, and helps with keeping a smooth airflow. i think you would also get too much flex with the rubber hose. there is alot of weight with the airbox sitting on top of them.

hondaparts-direct.com has them for $8.82 a peice, they are on the cylinder head diagram.

Interesting, $8.39 at Service Honda. Was I looking at the wrong part?

I was looking at #20 on here, does this piece under the airbox?

its called the carb insulator on honda parts direct website. you need to go to the cylinder head diagram, its #4. its not shown with the carbs, but rather the head.

anyways, service honda looks like they are cheaper...
