Cool Carb assmbly difficult to go back into boots

My last post was back in Aug of last year.I successfully put new fuel o-rings in carb fuel rail, with all of your help !

Carb assmbly a little difficult wanting to go back in rubber manifold boots.
I think they are a little stiff/old.Had the carbs off before, but I had a warmer garage to work in-now I'm outside.

Any suggestions?

Maybe some oil or WD-40???

I use Armor-All on the boots. A standing coat left on over-night, then polish the
excess (if any) off the next day. That helps soften them. Put the boots on the carbs
and tighten down, then put the entire assembly on the bike, at once. I also wipe some
more Armor-All on the inside of the boots as a lube to ease them on the bike.

yea i have had this problem before, and any of these methods will work or even dish soap, etc. just enough to help slip them into place, makes it go on much easier.

I used Aloe Dry Skin Lotion and saturated the boots 2x,then followed up spraying the metal manifold tubes with Armor All Wheel and Tire Cleaner,to make things more slippery-"Slippery When Wet" !!

I massaged the boots a little,then rocked/pushed one side,then the other,keeping an Eagle-eye-visual to keep things even.Then,whamo-carb assmbly went in !!!

I had the same problem, and after pulling the carbs a few times it gets really annoying. Not to mention mine were so bad I thought I was going to break something.

There is a guy on Ebay called Georgefix that sells new replacements for $40 a set. They look just like the oem ones I took off, and slip on like butter!

If you're not willing to dish out for the new boots, you can use a tiny amount of oil (any weight). apply it on the outside rim of the carb itself. You really don't want to be getting any oil/grease/lubricant into your carburetors. It's easy to learn that one the hard way.
