Air Silencer and Tail
Does someone make a part to go in the place of the air silencer? I thought I read that someone made aftermarket tubes in place of the silencers. To my luck I searched the siteand came up with nothing!
I am in the process of fixing up a 89 cane for my gf. It has been laid down at least once before. Well anyways when going through the bike and just doing all the maintance to it, I found something interesting. The tail section was not in line with the rear tire!! It is appox. 1/2 inch to the right at both center of the tire and the center of the subframe. Does anyone know how I can get this fixed short of replacing the sub frame? Thanks for any help.

RE: Air Silencer and Tail
My subframe is slightly off center as well. More than likely this can be attributed to the bike being down by a previous owner. Replacing the subframe would require you to cut the current one off, then weld the new one on that would have had to of been cut off of another frame. In all reality, the subframe really has no function other than to support the rider(s), it has made no difference on my bike's handling at all.

I've seen rear sub frames tweaked back into shape using a long steel prybar (5' long). The hardest part is getting the rest of the bike anchored securely enuf that you can pry against it.
Oh, and I ran my '90 without the air silencer for years, it sounded great, maybe flowed a little more air to the filter.
