Default Advice for a noob (me) - getting started

Hi everyone,

So, after quite some time and many other priorities out of my way I can finally sink my teeth into getting my bike going.

A little background. I purchased the bike about a year an a half ago and though I tried, I wasn't able to even get started with my project. The guy I bought the bike from said it was running months before I bought it. At the time the starter turned the motor over without a problem but she just wouldn't go. I was also told by the previous owner that it was because the carbs needed cleaning.

So this brings me to today. I want to give it a shot at getting her going before I yank the carbs for cleaning. There is about 3 buck of gas that's been in it for the year and a half and the battery is dead.

So I figured throw some new plugs in it, drain out the old gas and put some fresh stuff in there, then hook up my floor style battery charger to it and give it a go.

Will the charger mess any of the electronics up?

Anyone who can point me towards or away from something will be much appreciated.

Cheers

Thanks. Looks like I'll have to come up with another solution.

Charge the battery with the floor charger?

If it won't take a charge you could jump it from another vehicle. The floor chargers put out a lot of amperage on the start position for a little motorcycle battery.

Thanks everyone. I tried to chage the battery but it won't hold, so I'll just have to pick up a new one.
