Question 1988 CBR Hurricane.....1st bike?

Hey guys how are all of you? I am a new member and I have loved CBR's since i seen them on the street. I am interested in getting a cbr but money is tight and so obviously not looking to get a new one...

I found this one CBR that is cheap, needs a new key and a tune up.... it lokos solid it's on craigslist and here is the link .... http://miami.craigslist.org/mdc/mcy/1745678598.html its a 1988 hurricane 600.

I have been looking for bikes but just need a starter bike for now so I can start going to school and just around maybe to orlando (I live in miami) to see some friends.... can anyone help no a starter bike or let me know if this bike is alright in dependability.... also does anyone know typically how much a tune up is on a bike?

I posted on new members forum as well but maybe better where the bike belong's in this these threads?

I think it is a good first bike just remember to do all the proper maintenance and you wont have much of a problem... It's my first bike also.

that bike looks pretty good, has all the fairings, looks like it only needs mirrors.
if you're comfortable with doing some maintenance yourself, reading a manual, then these bikes are great for beginners, or a low budget.
the add says it needs a key, does it start and run? if not, try and talk the guy down a little. usualy the carbs gum up from sitting too long. not too difficult to remove and clean, but does take a special tool to sync the carbs.

hey speaking of syncing carbs, where do you plug the hoses in on our carbs? i see on most carb setups there is a little nipple on the vacuum chamber someswhere but i cant seem to locate them on the hurricane carbs.

There are 4 screws (one below each intake tube) on my carb tool, this is where the adapters plug in.

It depends entirely on the bike/carbs. I'd say most bikes have the ports on the intake manifold, but some have ports right on the carbs (older 1000F's do).

Thanks for all the info and other info guys, just curious but is there another bike like the CBR that's equally inexpensive and reliable?
