for the wheelie guys
roll into 1st gear-the gouge it -once i get it up to about-10-11 oclock position-i shift into 2nd -then inot 3rd once i'm nesr redline-i've gooten 4th a few times but your flying at that point-phil
no iam i first. i get ro about 3000 dump the throttle yes it does come up quick and yes always cover the back brake. once you have run it out to almost red line set it down and crab 2nd and it wil come back up on its own. iam not good enough to change gears in the middle of a whillie nor am i talanted enough yet but letting it down and bring it back up suits me just fine for now. my god you doing about 80 in first and in 2nd about 110 that plenty enough for me. but i do love to see the guys ride forever on the back wheel. maybe one day i will 2 or 3 hundred feet is good for me at the moment. my bike is totaly stock
just stick wit first for a while then move ur way up. the hard thing isnt gettin it up...its lettin it down nice and soft by ridin it out. u dont wanna b goin 110 and come down nice and hard, smack the tank wit ur chest and then get into a bad wobble. i havent been there but from what ive seen, it aint nice. its just like everythin else...practice practice practice. it will come sooner than u think
As your bringing it down just before your front wheel touchs the ground just give it abit of throttle. Just blip it a little before it touchs down and she will be very smooth on landing... good luck..

second is the best and safest gear to learn to wheelie in. No need to clutch it, they have enough power in the throttle itself, just learn how to use it, also stand up compress the forks as your letting off the gas at around 40mph then lift and throttle.....no problems..smooth sailing from there. same in third around 70mph....same in fourth around 100mph...practice practice practice ...it will come in due time...be patient...you cannot force them thats when **** goes wrong!
I stopped clutching my wheelies after '95 because my last two 600's had enough juice to power up in 1st fairly easily. I just got my 06 1krr and imagine the awakening I got powering up my 1000 using the same throttle inputs as my F4i
. I think the tank bumped my chest and my helmet hit my windshield because it came up so fast.
I have since figured 1st gear out and have now moved on to 2nd gear power ups (to put a little 'wow' when entering the freeway.
So, can a stock 1krr can power up in 3rd around 70 mph (without bouncing)? I have no problem chopping the throttle, but I'm not down with the bounce. I'll have to give that a try soon.
