I had the Yoshimura RS-5 on my 06 1000rr for 3500 miles and replaced it with the Jardine RT-1 Ti Dual Outlet. I think the RT-1 looks and sounds much better. It's a little bit louder and deeper then the Yosh, but not a really big volume difference in my opinion. I'd keep it on for a while and see if it grows on you. Unless the CF is louder then the Ti RT-1 you still may not be happy after the switch to Yosh. Just my opinion.

I have the yosh rs5 on mine, but is stainless. A friend of mine has the carbon version of the rs5, and the only difference I can tell is his sounds bit deeper, but just as loud. Mine has that raspy sound to it.

Another friend of mine had an 03 cbr 600RR with a jardine on it. It was pretty mellow at first, but within 1500 miles, the thing was way too loud. I don't know what the deal was, but it was rediculous. It just got louder and louder. My yosh has been about the same since I've owned it. Its got 17,000 miles on it without any real noticable change. Oh yeah, his jardine ended up being so much louder than mine, we started calling it a D&D with a jardine emblem.

Also, Im not sure what bike you had before this one, but all of the 04-07 1000rr's tend to have louder exhaust that a side mounted one of something like an f4. the cans are so short, they don't have much time to muffle the sound.

Is it loud to you while your riding it? If its not, then I would hang on to it for awhile. At least until you can hear another 1000RR with a different exhaust on it. that is the one thing I've noticed that is nice about the yosh pipes, the end outlet is tipped away from the rider. It helps keep the noise from getting annoying to the rider. A friend of mine had a set of two bros on his R1, and while it was quieter than mine, it was horrible to ride because the pipes didnt have a turn down, it was extremely loud to ride.
